Clubs

Computer Club

Computer Club is open to anyone in 1st to 8th grade.  The club meets monthly.  There are seperate meetings for 1st-4th graders and 5th-8th graders.  Computer Club focuses on various computer skills, such as block-based coding, digital escape rooms, and typing.  The students also compete in the annual Bebras Challenge , a world-wide competition that focuses on computational and logical thinking.

Drama Club

The Drama Club has been a vital part of Bradley Beach Elementary School community for 15 years.  The club is open to all 5th-8th graders who are interested in theatrical performance and production.  Every student who wishes to participate will have a role.  Club members learn the skills and techniques of acting, singing, dancing, and improvization.  They engage in vocal training and stage movement and develop their listening skills and their ability to work as an ensemble.

Environmental Club

Environmental Club is open to anyone in 5th-8th grade.  We do fundraising for a variety of environmental organizations and causes;  learn about local, national, and worldwide environmental issues; participate in Arbor Day celebration; annual field trips  - some years overnight ones;  participate in Beach Sweeps and school-yard clean-up; several guest speakers throughout the year talking about different environmental issues.

Newspaper

Students are instructed and guided how to conduct interviews, take notes, and how to build a news article conveying information about our school and community.  Students in 4th through 8th grade are given assignments, deadlines, and work on first drafts to articles.  Together we edit and refine their work.  Students need to be able to use Microsoft Word and begin to use Publisher to complete and publish our final editions.

Safety Patrol

Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to participate.  Teacher recommendations are required for participation.  If selected, students are required to serve in the morning before school begins as well as during the fifth period lunch.  Safety Patrols assist students as needed on the playground as well as in the cafeteria.  Safety Patrols also escort students to the bathroom and to the nurse during the lunch period.  Patrols are expected to be role models for the younger students.

Student Government

Student Government is a service organization for students in grades 5-8.  This year we raised money for the Monmouth County Chapter of the Red Cross and held a food drive for the Bradley Beach Food Pantry.  We are the student board and representing the student body with issues, hold Spirit Weeks, and sponsor the school dances.
