Many BBES students have exceptional interest and talent in art. Students in grades 4-8 are offered additional time to develop their talent through this art enrichment program during lunch. This school year, these additional art classes are offered Monday and Friday during 6th period. The students have the chance to work on advanced group and individual art projects. Students have created mosaics, Rangoli stencil paintings, paper mache sculptures, and weavings among many other projects. Lunch Art is always a full house!
Environmental Club is open to anyone 5th-8th grade. Students are instructed and guided how to conduct interviews, take notes, and how to build a news article conveying information about our school and community. Students in 4th through 8th grade are given assignments, deadlines, and work on first drafts to articles. Together we edit and refine their work. Students need to be able to use Microsoft Word and begin to use Publisher to complete and publish our final editions.
Student Government is a service organization for students in grades 5-8. This year we raised money for the Monmouth County Chapter of the Red Cross and held a food drive for the Bradley Beach Food Pantry. We are the student board and representing the student body with issues, hold Spirit Weeks, and sponsor the school dances.
Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to participate. Teacher recommendations are required for participation. If selected, students are required to serve in the morning before school begins as well as during the fifth period lunch. Safety Patrols assist students as needed on the playground as well as in the cafeteria. Safety Patrols also escort students to the bathroom and to the nurse during the lunch period. Patrols are expected to be role models for the younger students.
