Hello Bradley Beach Elementary School families, I hope this message finds you well. As we enter the final week and a half of school, I would like to thank the entire school community for the support and efforts over the past twelve weeks. Our students, staff, and community have come together in ways previously unimaginable to support one another during the new home instruction environment. In this message, I would like to cover a number of the end of year procedures, which are designed to keep all involved safe and healthy.
I am excited to report that our students and staff have worked diligently over the past weeks to develop an online virtual graduation to celebrate the Graduating class of 2020. This virtual graduation will be released to the community for viewing on June 16th at 7:00 PM. The graduation will be presented in both English and Spanish, these two versions will be released on YouTube. The links for these videos will be accessible from our website and they can be shared with family and friends. I would like to thank all of the staff involved in making this concept a reality for our students.
Families wishing to drop off completed work are invited to do so next week, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. We will place bins on the front steps for a non contact collection system. We ask that you place all of the students’ work in a single folder labeled with their name and their homeroom teacher’s name. We will have a separate bin with envelops and markers if you do not have these materials at home. If you are unable to come to the school, or if you do not feel comfortable due to health reasons, please feel free to mail the materials to the school. All students are welcome to keep their school provided Chromebooks and we encourage our students to utilize them for online educational exploration over the summer. We will require the students to return the Chromebooks when we return to school next year.
Teachers and custodians have worked to bag all of the student materials in desks and lockers and they are currently labeled and held in our gymnasium. All materials will be returned to students when we return to school next year. If there are specific items of need or if you do not plan on returning to our school next year, please contact your homeroom teacher and we will make specific arrangements to help provide these items. All 8th Grade families will be provided a schedule to exchange any materials such as items left in the lockers or Chromebooks that we have provided students to take place during the last week of June.
Breakfast and lunch will be distributed from 10-12 on Wednesday, June 10th and Monday, June 15th. This will be the final two days of distribution for the month of June. We will begin distributing meals to families in July, and I will reach out in a few weeks to provide a food schedule for the summer.
Finally, the school has developed a survey for families to provide feedback on the home and virtual learning experience. We emailed a link to the survey earlier today and paper copies have been sent to homes without an email on file. We encourage all families to complete the survey to help us plan in the event of future school closures.
