January 14, 2019

Parents/ Guardians,

Please allow me to take this opportunity to wish all members of the Bradley Beach Elementary School a very Happy New Year for 2019.  The new year is always an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of a year past, which are many in our school district.  January is also a time to create personal and professional goals, in an attempt to reach new heights and successes.  I know that 2019 will hold many opportunities for success for our students.

I would like to highlight a few events that will take place in the month of January.  Schools will be closed on January 21 st , to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  The Board of Education will hold their January meeting on the 15th  in the Auditorium at 7:00 PM.  On Friday, January 25th , the Winter Dance will take place for students in grades 5 – 8 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM.  Additionally, I would like to invite all students and parents to the annual PTO Family Fun Night on Thursday, January 31st , from 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

I would also like to remind parents to enroll in our Honeywell Instant Alert for Schools, which will be utilized in the case of inclement weather.  It is imperative that all families update their most current contact information to receive Honeywell messages in the case of a change in the schedule.  To update your information, please go to https://instantalert.honeywell.com or utilize the link under “Parents” on our district website.

One final note, we have been working to upgrade our security at the front door, and visitors may have experienced our new buzzer system.  All visitors must be buzzed in both the front door and the door in the vestibule.  You will see a new buzzer to the left of the front door, which you must use to gain entrance to the vestibule.  Once in the vestibule, you must use the second buzzer to the right of the doors to gain entrance into the building.  We are currently working to repurpose the vestibule, which will allow parents the opportunity to drop off materials in the vestibule to help limit access to the building.  I will reach out with further instructions once all of the furniture and procedures are in place.

If you have any questions about items in this newsletter, or if you need clarification on any points, please don’t hesitate to contact my office.  Have a Happy New Year!
